FAQ’s
Registration and Fundraising
How much will it cost me to ride? Registration is free.
Is there a suggested fundraising minimum?
Yes, each rider (individual or team member) for the 10-, 16-, 30- and 55-mile rides has a suggested $200 minimum fundraising commitment. Each family collectively also has a $200 minimum fundraising commitment. Students have a suggested $50 minimum fundraising commitment and adults who accompany student groups have a $100 minimum fundraising commitment.
Prizes will be awarded for the top fundraisers.
How do I submit my pledges?
The easiest way to collect your pledges is to send your sponsors to www.lundfamilycenter.org and follow the link to The Mother’s Day Ride. If you collect in cash or check, please bring your pledges the day of the Ride. Pledges are tax deductible for the donor.
How do I go about fundraising?
Go back to the home page for The Mother’s Day Ride and click on My Lund Ride Page. This page allows you to set up your personal fundraising page. On your personal page you may write a personal message or tell a memorable story, add photos, track your fundraising goal, list your donors and email this page to family and friends. It is easy and user-friendly.
The other way to raise money is to collect pledges by printing the Pledge form and complete it as you collect pledges. If you collect this way, bring your money to the Ride on May 9.
What happens if I do not raise my minimum by the time of the Ride?
Bring what you have collected the day of the event and continue collecting after you have completed the ride.
Can I create a riding team?
Yes, you can ride as a team and have fun planning your ride and your fundraising in advance! Our suggested fundraising minimums apply to each individual on your team. At this time, we do not offer a RELAY RIDE. Each team member rides the full route.
Fundraising prizes:
Fabulous prizes for the top (individual or team) in each event: 10-mile, 16-mile, 30-mile, 55-mile or family ride.
Are there age and competency requirements?
For the family ride, the expectation is that children are comfortable on their bikes and will be able to safely navigate in a group with riders all around them. For the family ride, children under 10-year’s old must be accompanied by a parent.
For the 10-mile, 16-mile, 30-mile and 55-mile rides (all routes ride along the roadways), the expectation is that you are in good health and are comfortable riding the distance you select. Riders under 16-years-old must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone to ride in the rides that travel along the roadways.
All riders under 18-years-old must have the parent/guardian waiver signed.
PREPARING FOR THE RIDE
What should I bring?
Bike, helmet and appropriate cycling gear, water bottle, sunscreen, clothes for all types of weather and all pledges that have not been turned in.
What if I don’t have a bike?
Local shops have limited bike rentals available and some may offer a discount for the Mother’s Day Ride.
Do I need to bring my own food and water?
Rest stops will have food and water and gatorade for all riders – there is one rest stop for each of the 10-mile, 16-mile, and 30-mile rides and three rest stops for the 55-mile ride. Due to logistics, it is likely that the rest stop for the 10-mile will be very early in the ride and for the 16-mile at about mile 13. Please be sure to bring supplemental supplies. It is always wise to ride with food and water.
We will provide riders with wonderful post-event food in the cafeteria at Rice Memorial High School.
How do I get to the start?
The start of the Ride is at Rice Memorial High School on Proctor Avenue in South Burlington. Visit the directions page for more information.

Yes, there will be bike mechanics at the start and in the SAG vehicles (support and gear) riding the routes. We ask that you be responsible and have your bike tuned and ready to go.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, a helmet is required on all courses.
Music – can I use my Ipod or Mp3 player during the ride?
No, unfortunately because of safety, we must ask that riders not wear headsets or ear pods. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Vermont!
What is the ride like?
The rides have all been developed with your enjoyment in mind. We have selected scenic routes which will provide riders with beautiful vistas and rolling hills. Riders will ride on secondary roads with less traffic than the Route 7 corridor. Riders will spend minimal time on Route 7. Course maps are available on-line.
What kind of roads will I be riding on?
Riders will be riding on paved roads.
What happens if I get lost?
The entire route will be marked with arrows and signs to make sure riders find their way. We will also hand out route maps and cue sheets for everyone to have with them at all times. If you get lost, the map will lead you back to the route. To ensure everyone’s safety, we will be doing the following: checking bib numbers at the finish, providing leading and trailing bikers for each ride, providing a support van, and sweeping the course.
Family Activities
Activities will begin at 10:00am and will continue into the early afternoon as we welcome the riders back from their respective rides.
