The majority of our adoptive families are older child adoptions in conjunction with the State Foster Care System. Therefore, our staff is knowledgeable not only about adoption, but how the impact that trauma, grief, and loss affect the child and the entire family.
The State of Vermont has recognized the need for ongoing supportive services to adoptive families. The State of Vermont contracts with various VT Adoption Consortium agencies throughout Vermont, including Lund Family Center, to provide Post-Adoption Case Management. Lund Family Center is an advocate of early introduction of services into families in an effort to form a therapeutic relationship with a family. Our staff can provide, but not limited to the following services:
- Behavior consultation
- Intervention techniques
- Information and referral
- Advocacy
- Help on school teams
- Supportive counseling to the parents
Lund has a limited respite budget to help families provide for overnight respite, supplementing some normative activities, and summer programming. Our desire is to join with the parents to supplement funding for specialized activities and respite opportunities for their children. As we have many families in need, we are not able to provide all things to all families and we take each request on a case-by-case basis.
Our program is designed to support adoptive parents around the unique daily struggles with parenting. We prefer to meet with parents in their home; however, our staff is flexible about the times and places to meet the needs of our families. These services are for your benefit and are requested by you. We, at the Lund Family Center, will do whatever we can to help you and your family.
